La coppia è sul divano, immersa in un bacio lento e rilassato. L’atmosfera è intima, avvolgente. Lui la stringe, lei si lascia andare, ma dopo qualche istante si stacca con un sorriso complice.
“Dove andiamo a cena?” chiede lui, accarezzandole il viso.
Lei si prende un attimo per pensarci, giocherellando con un ciuffo di capelli. “Potremmo andare da quel nuovo ristorante in centro. Ho sentito che è carino.”
Lui annuisce, poi propone un’alternativa. “O se preferisci, possiamo tornare in quel posto sul lungomare.”
L’inserviente è lì, discreto, in piedi accanto a loro, immobile. Aspetta. Sa che prima o poi riceverà istruzioni, ma fino a quel momento la sua presenza è invisibile, una parte silenziosa della scena. Non parla, non interviene. È lì per servire.
Dopo un breve scambio, la donna decide. “Andiamo in centro. Mi va di provare qualcosa di nuovo.”
Lui sorride. “Perfetto.”
Lei si alza con grazia, lisciandosi il vestito. “Voglio cambiarmi.” Poi, senza esitazione, si gira verso l’inserviente. “Accompagnami.”
L’uomo si avvicina in silenzio, con movimenti misurati. Indossa solo un grembiule, lasciando scoperto il resto del corpo, in una presenza che è allo stesso tempo discreta e inevitabile. Lei gli lancia un’occhiata distratta, poi gli fa cenno di seguirla.
Nella stanza, l’inserviente si muove con precisione, come se fosse parte di un rituale noto da tempo. Si inginocchia, le sfila con cura le scarpe, le spalma la crema sulle gambe con gesti delicati, senza osare soffermarsi troppo a lungo. Poi le porge l’abito nero, elegante, aderente. La guarda mentre lo indossa, il suo sguardo tradisce per un attimo un desiderio represso, un’ammirazione trattenuta. Ma lei rimane impassibile, distaccata. Per lei, lui è solo un servitore.
Quando è pronta, torna dal suo compagno, che la osserva con soddisfazione. Il vestito le fascia il corpo alla perfezione, i tacchi le slanciano la figura. L’inserviente segue in silenzio, chiudendo la scena con la sua presenza invisibile.
Si avvicina con naturalezza e aiuta entrambi a indossare i cappotti. Si inginocchia ancora una volta per infilare le scarpe all’uomo, con la stessa precisione con cui aveva curato lei. Lei, prima di uscire, gli dà le ultime istruzioni con tono neutro, senza nemmeno guardarlo.
“Sistema casa. Cambia le lenzuola. Pulisci il bagno. Voglio trovare tutto perfetto al nostro ritorno.”
Lui china leggermente il capo in segno di assenso. La porta si chiude.
Il silenzio riempie lo spazio lasciato vuoto dalla loro assenza. L’inserviente rimane lì, fermo, il respiro appena percettibile. A pensare.
A cosa fare.
A se stesso.
Poi, lentamente, si muove.

The couple is on the couch, lost in a slow, relaxed kiss. The atmosphere is intimate, enveloping. He holds her close, she leans into him, but after a moment, she pulls away with a playful smile.
“Where should we go for dinner?” he asks, caressing her face.
She takes a moment to think, absentmindedly twirling a strand of hair between her fingers. “We could try that new restaurant downtown. I heard it’s nice.”
He nods, then suggests an alternative. “Or, if you prefer, we can go back to that place by the waterfront.”
The servant stands nearby, motionless, waiting. He knows that at some point, he will receive instructions, but until then, his presence is invisible—just another silent part of the setting. He does not speak, does not interrupt. He is there to serve.
After a brief exchange, the woman makes her decision. “Let’s go downtown. I feel like trying something new.”
Her partner smiles. “Perfect.”
She rises gracefully, smoothing her dress. “I want to change.” Then, without hesitation, she turns to the servant. “Come with me.”
The man moves silently, measured in his steps. He wears only an apron, leaving the rest of his body exposed—a presence that is both discreet and impossible to ignore. She glances at him briefly, then gestures for him to follow.
In the room, the servant moves with precision, performing a ritual long known. He kneels, carefully removing her shoes, smoothing a layer of cream over her legs with deliberate hands, never lingering too long. Then, he hands her the black dress—elegant, form-fitting. His eyes follow her as she slips into it, his gaze betraying, for just a moment, a restrained desire, a quiet admiration.
But she remains impassive, distant. To her, he is only a servant.
Once ready, she returns to her partner, who watches her with satisfaction. The dress hugs her figure perfectly, the heels accentuate her posture. The servant follows in silence, closing the scene with his unseen presence.
With practiced ease, he helps them both into their coats. He kneels again, this time to slip the man’s shoes on, performing the task with the same precision he had used for her. Just before stepping out, she gives him her final instructions, not even sparing him a glance.
“Tidy up the house. Change the sheets. Clean the bathroom. I want everything perfect when we return.”
He bows his head slightly in acknowledgment. The door closes behind them
Silence fills the space they left behind. The servant stands still, his breath barely audible. Thinking.
